Knoxville West's Maggie Cunningham and Bearden's Mallory Bishop
Tied For Lead;
Morristown West Leads Team Competition

WINCHESTER - - - Maggie Cunningham and Mallory Bishop finished day one of the Class AAA state golf championship tied for the lead with a score of 76 on a par 71 course. The state tournament is being held at The Bear Trace at Tims Ford State Park for the first time. Cunningham, a senior, finished in 24th at last year's state tournament. Bishop, a sophomore, finished tied for seventh place last year.

Holly Cantwell and Vanessa Breeding of Morristown West and Rachel Smith of Karns each shot a 78 and are tied for third heading into the final day of competition. Cantwell finished runner-up last year and in fourth place the year before. Karns' Smith finished in third place last year.

Cantwell and Breeding combined to give Morristown West, last year's team runner-up, a score of 156 and a ten-stroke lead over second place Farragut.

Hendersonville's Lorie Warren and Clarksville's Shellie Green are tied for sixth place with a first day score of 80, just four strokes behind the leaders. Five other individuals are within eight strokes of the lead heading into the final day of competition.

Hickman County's Grant Leaver Leads Individuals;
Oakland Leads Clarksville By Two

WINCHESTER - - - Zack Primm shot a 69 (33-36), Spencer Provow shot a 70 (35-35), and Phillip Pettit shot a 71 (36-35) at The Bear Trace at Tims Ford State Park to help give Oakland a two-stroke lead over Clarksville after the first day of competition. They combined with teammate Adam Wilcox for a team score of 290.

Clarksville had a team score of 292 and were led by Seth Morford's 70 and Rhyne Fisher's 72.

Grant Leaver of Hickman County shot a 68 (36-32) to lead Oakland's Primm by one stroke in individual competition.

Farragut's Corey Lien is tied for second place with Clarksville's Seth Morford, Cleveland's Nick Bailes, and Spencer Provow of Oakland.

Ross Cox, last year's individual champion, and five other individuals finished at par (71) and are tied for seventh place. Eight individuals are four strokes back with a score of 72.
