Jenny Kim of King's Academy Wins Division II Title;
Baylor Wins Eighth Consecutive State Title

SAVANNAH - - - Jenny Kim finished with a two-day total of 152 (72-80) to win the 2002 Division II state golf championship at Pickwick Landing State Park. Kim, a senior at King's Academy, finished in sixth place at last year's state championship.

Taylor Bunnell of St. Benedict entered the final day of competition trailing Kim by only one stroke. However, Bunnell and Kim both shot an 80 on the last day. Bunnell, a sophomore, finished one stroke ahead of Kim for a fifth place finish at last year's state golf championship.

Ashleigh Garman of St. Cecilia finished with a two-day total of 158 (82-76) to finish in third place. Garman, a junior, finished in ninth place at last year's state championship.

Baylor won their eighth consecutive team golf title, the most consecutive titles won by a team in any sport. That is also their eighth title overall, surpassing GPS and Davidson Academy, who each hold seven titles. Beth Felts, last year's individual champion, made a strong comeback to help lead Baylor to the championship. After shooting an 85 yesterday, Felts led Baylor on the final day with a score of 74 to combine for a 159 and finish tied for fourth place with teammate Catherine Hicks in the individual standings.

Brentwood Academy, led by Liz and Kate Austin, finished with a team score of 338 to capture the runner-up title for the second year in a row.

Baylor's Luke List Wins Division II Title;
McCallie Wins First Golf Title

SAVANNAH - - -Baylor's Luke List shot an impressive 144 (71-73) to capture his second consecutive individual golf championship. List, a senior, also helped lead Baylor to a runner-up finish. Baylor had won three consecutive titles prior to this year.

Reed Davis of Evangelical Christian School had the best 18-hole score for day two that helped him finish in second place with a score of 147 (76-71). Matt King of King's Academy finished in third place with a score of 150 (76-74).

Austin Haynes and Bryce Ledford of McCallie helped lead their team to their first ever state championship in golf. Haynes and Ledford each finished with a two-day total of 151 to finish tied for fourth in the individual standings. They combined with teammates Ryan Paris and Adam Mitchell, who each shot a 154 to finish tied for eighth place.

McCallie trailed Baylor and Memphis University School in team competition by one stroke heading into the final day. They finished with a team score of 609, five strokes ahead of runner-up Baylor. MUS finished with a team score of 619 and a third place finish.
