Division I A-AA State Girls Soccer Tournament at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga

Chattanooga Christian Wins Championship 3-0

CHATTANOOGA - Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association awarded the A-AA Girls State Soccer Championship to Chattanooga Christian. Chattanooga Christian defeated Ridgeway 3-0.

The score remained tied in the first half with both teams having equal possession of the ball. Yet, Chattanooga Christian’s Emily Wilbourn quickly scored at the beginning of the second half to put the Chargers ahead of the Road Runners.

Ridgeway continued to put pressure on the ball, but it could not score. At the 71st minute Nikki Crutcher scored a goal from Melissa George. Kennisha Cann then broke away in the 76th minute for Chattanooga Christian’s final goal and to give it the Championship.

Chattanooga Christian Beats Anderson County in OT

The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association Girls State Soccer Tournament kicked off Friday with the Ridgeway Road Runners defeating the Page Lady Patriots, 1-0.

Ridgeway controlled the ball for the first half but had a difficult time finding the net.

Janna Bray scored Ridgeway's goal at the 30:83 minute of play mark to put the Road Runners ahead. Page was able to hold the Road Runners in the second half, but it was unable to rebound after yielding the goal.

Ridgeway advances to the A-AA championship where it will face the Chattanooga Christian-Anderson County winner.

Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association completed the second A-AA Semifinals Girls State Soccer Tournament with Chattanooga Christian defeating Anderson County 2-1.

During the first half Chattanooga Christian out shot Anderson County 8-3, but neither team was able to put the ball in the net.

Anderson County started strong in the second half with a goal by Heidi Poore. Anderson County could not keep the 1-0 lead due to the intense pressure of Chattanooga Christian. Kennisha Cann scored with an assist by Nikki Crutcher. Cann’s goal tied the game for the Lady Chargers causing the teams to play overtime.

After the second 10 minute period the game was still tied forcing the teams to play a five minute sudden death period. During this five minute period Chattanooga Christian’s Ashley Harbert was able to score the winning goal from Nikki Crutcher before falling down with an injury.

Chattanooga Christian advances to play Ridgway in the A-AA Girls State Soccer Finals.
