GPS comes from behind to defeat Harpeth Hall 2-1 in the Division II Semi-Finals Soccer Tournament. Tiffany Watson from Harpeth Hall scored early in the first half to give the Honeybears the lead throughout the half. GPS countered in the second half with a goal in the 59th minute of play by Jessica Griffith and assisted by Martha Snodgrass. The game remained tied until the 77th minute when Kari Vandenburg blasted the ball from outside of the penalty box to give the Bruisers the lead. GPS will play the winner of the Father Ryan/St. Mary’s game Friday at 7:00 PM at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga.

Father Ryan scores the winning goal in double overtime in the Division II Semi-Finals game to defeat St. Mary’s. St. Mary’s Laure Freeman (Courtenay Adams) scored the first goal of the match in the 52 minute of play. St. Mary’s continued to blast kicks at keeper K.C. Wolfe, but they could not find the back of the net. Allison McGee of Father Ryan ties the game with three minutes remaining in the game with a pass from Rachel Raymer. The teams play two strenuous 10-minute overtime periods, but neither team could score. After the second 5-minute sudden death period, Krista Mondelli kicks the ball into the net with 2 seconds remaining in the overtime periods. Father Ryan will face GPS in the Division II Finals at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga

Father Ryan defeated GPS in overtime to claim the Division II Girls State Soccer Tournament Friday at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga. The game was scoreless throughout regulation, but Father Ryan was able to put a ball into the goal in the first two minutes of overtime to win the state championship. Erin Langteau forced the ball into the net after it bobbled in front of the goal. GPS continued to pressure Father Ryan, but they could not find the back of the net.
