Ash Leads by Two Strokes Over Defending
Champion Wood; DICKSON- - -Chattanooga Notre Dames Teesha Ash shot two over par to lead last years individual champion, May Wood of Baylor, by two strokes after the first day of competition at Greystone Golf Course in Dickson. Despite three birdies, Ash shot three bogies and a double bogie to give her a score of 74. Brooke Hixon, last years runner-up, shot a 78 to finish day one in third place. Annie Hale, Hixons teammate, shot a 79 for the fourth best total after day one. Hale and Hixon combined to give Girls Preparatory School score of 157 and a three-stroke lead over Baylor, last years team champions. Hutchison was led by Randi Belisomos score of 80 which put them in third place with a team score of 174. Tee times for girls begin at 8:50 a.m. on the final day of competition. |

Eric Beaty and Charlie Gibson Tied For
Lead After Day One
Baylor Has Three Stroke Lead Over MBA
Eric Beaty of Memphis University School and Battle Ground Academys Charlie Gibson each finished day one at even par. Ryan Mayberry of Evangelical Christian School and Jonathan Frost of Baylor are both shot a 73 to finish one stroke behind the leaders. Josh Nelms of Baylor and Montgomery Bell Academys Graham Worsham shot a 74 to stay within two strokes of the leaders. Fifteen other golfers finished the first day with a score under 80.
Baylors score of 300 put them three strokes ahead of MBA. Baylor was led by Frosts score of 73 and Nelms 74. Winston Brown shot a 76 and Luke List finished with a 77 to combine for Baylors team total.
Evangelical Christian School is in third place with a team score of 310. Last years state champions, Christian Brothers, finished day one with a score of 313 to put them in fourth place. Last years runner-up, Memphis University School, finished in fifth place with a 316.
Tee times will begin at 8:30 a.m. on the final day of competition.
