Sophomore May Wood Wins Second Consecutive Title
As She Leads Baylor To Fifth Consecutive Team Title

DICKSON- - -Baylor’s May Wood shot a 75 on the final day of competition at Greystone Golf Course to give her a five-stroke victory over yesterday’s leader, Teesha Ash of Notre Dame. Ash shot an 82 to finish with a score of 156. Wood’s two-day total of 151 equaled her championship performance she had as a freshman at Pine Creek Golf Course last year. Wood joins eight other female golfers in state tournament history with two or more titles. She becomes the third female to accomplish that feat this year (A-AA Sarah Jacobs, AAA Courtney Wood).

Baylor junior, Kate May, shot a 167 to combine with May Wood’s 151 to give Baylor their fifth consecutive team championship. Girls Preparatory School, who led Baylor by three strokes yesterday, finished seven strokes behind Baylor for a second place finish. Brooke Hixon, last year’s individual runner-up, led GPS with a 160. She finished nine strokes behind Wood for a third place finish.

GPS is the only school with more team titles (7) than Baylor. Baylor’s current streak of five championships is second only to GPS’s six consecutive titles.
