- Voted to instruct the state
office conduct the drawing for the Regional and State Tennis Tournaments.
- Reviewed the action of the
Legislative Council.
- Hall of Champions Games report
was not discussed. It will be brought to the Board at the March
meeting.
- Heard update regarding the
Section 3 Meeting in 2010.
- Heard update regarding the
Football Playoff Committee. The committee will continue to work
towards possible options/changes to the football playoffs to be presented
to the Board at a later date.
The Football Playoff Committee met
on Thursday, December 17, 2009, and Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the
state office. The committee consists of state office personnel
(4), members of the TSSAA Board of Control (3), football coaches (12)
representing every class and area across the state, as well as the Board
of Control President and the Executive Director of TACA.
- Approved Clarksville Academy’s
Request to Change the First Official Date of Football Practice in 2010-11
to July 26. This was also approved for the 2010-11 school year
for the sports of girls’ volleyball and cross country.
- Discussed Assigners’ Fees
- Approved proposal for change
in dates for DI and DII Soccer State Championships.

DII Semifinals – May 26
- Voted to hire Robert Cole
as an Assistant Executive Director. He is a native of Memphis
and has worked for the Memphis Interscholastic Athletic Association
(MIAA) for the last 11 years and currently serves as its Athletic Coordinator.
Prior to that, he served as a teacher, coach, and the Athletic Director
at Carver High School in Memphis. As part of his role with MIAA,
Mr. Cole serves as a liaison for the TSSAA, TIAAA, NIAAA, and NFHS and
assists the MIAA Athletic Director in monitoring and evaluating the
district’s athletic programs as well as supervising facilities.
His wife Stephanie is a teacher and they have one son, Robert, Jr. and
one grandchild.
- Voted to take no action regarding
Hendersonville High School’s request to change the starting date for
Girls’ Soccer in 2010.
- Heard update regarding the
Tennessee Sports Medicine Advisory Committee
- Approved a proposal from
the DII Committee requesting that in tennis, DII AA schools be allowed
to play a 6-3 format instead of 5-2 during regular and post season.
- Voted to charge $8 admission
at the state golf tournament.
