BOARD OF CONTROL MEETING

- Re-elected Mike Reed as President and John Dixon as Vice President.
- Approved financial report of the 1999 football playoffs.
- Approved catastrophic insurance coverage similar to present coverage with premium of $367,000. This provides coverage for all student-athletes, cheerleaders, bands, managers, and coaches for all TSSAA approved practices and contests and travel to and from. As a result of the increase in premium, approved a $5.00 per student-athlete assessment on football eligibility report.
- Approved the Nashville Area Junior Chamber of Commerce's proposal to help sponsor the Division II football championships on the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving. This will be the same dates as in the past and will continue the Clinic Bowl as the Division II football championships.
- Provided update to Board on tennessee.ihigh.com web site and services being provided to the association and member schools.
- Approved the membership of Blackman High School beginning with the 2000-2001 school year. Blackman High School will be in Class AAA, District 9 in all sports except football. Football will not be placed in a classification until the next classification period.
- Approved the use of enrollment figures for the 1999-2000 school year as the figures to be used in determining classification in the fall of 2000 for the next classification period. This is the same method that was used in the last reclassification.
- To continue to send 10 TSSAA ID cards to each member school and to approve the Tennessee Athletic Coaches Association photo ID card for admittance to all TSSAA state championship events at the central sites.
- Tabled the request of Bearden High School for rotation of the Girls' and Boys' State Basketball Tournaments until the June meeting.
- Tabled the request of Bearden High School for elimination of sectional tournaments and return to sub-state format until the June meeting.
