All financial aid must be approved at this meeting in order to allow students receiving financial aid to participate in athletics this school year. As everyone is aware, this is the beginning of a change in this area. Mr. Bernard Childress will give a full report to the Board of Control in regard to the financial aid lists for all schools (Division I and Division II).

5. Report on Basketball Officials Camps

TSSAA sponsored five officials camps this summer with approximately 225 officials in attendance. This is the 13th consecutive year for this phase of our program. Mr. Gene Menees will go over the camps and answer any questions.

6. Administrators Meetings

TSSAA will again sponsor Administrators Meetings throughout the state. Administrators Meetings will be held in Gray, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Cookeville, Nashville, Fayetteville, Jackson, and Memphis. The staff will go over topics which will be discussed at this year’s meetings. Additionally, any items the Board feels would be beneficial to be discussed in these meetings should be given to the staff at this time. Please be aware that the meetings will be the last week in September and the first week of October. We will be holding TSSAA Administrators Meetings, TMSAA Administrators Meetings, coaching training meetings, cheerleading rules meetings, and basketball rules meetings at each site.

7. Financial Report of the Spring Fling

The summary of Spring Fling Expenses and Shares will be presented to the Board. Mr. Ronnie Carter will go over the report and answer any questions.

Copies of the official audit of the 1996-97 school year will be presented to the Board of Control at the August 23, 1997 meeting with a complete review of the auditor’s report.

We will also submit at this time a revised budget for the 1997-98 school year. The Board will remember that the original budget was presented in June. By reviewing the audit, it will allow us to make any changes necessary for the revised budget.

9. Approval of Cordova High School for Membership.

Cordova High School is a new school in the Shelby County System. It will have the 9th grade only in 1997-98 and will add a grade each year. Cordova High School is requesting membership beginning with the 1997-98 school year.

10. Approval of 3.6% Indexing

Supplement #1 contains a memorandum from TCRS concerning continuance of 3.6% indexing for non-contributory members. This has been approved by the Board in the past and requires Board action.

11. Milan High School Requests Change from District 13 to District 14 in all A-AA Sports

Supplement #2 contains a letter from Milan High School requesting a change in districts and a letter of response from the Executive Director. Also with the supplement is a copy of the schools in District 13 and 14.

12. TSSAA Hall of Fame

As everyone is aware, the TSSAA Hall of Fame has become a very great experience for all involved and an honor for all selected to the Hall of Fame. As we get more nominees each year, it is probably good to review our process.

One area of concern is whether we should have a minimum age or minimum requirements. This will be explained by the Executive Director.
