LETTER TO DISTRICT/REGION ENTRY LEVEL SOCCER TOURNAMENT DIRECTORS

Guidelines for the district/region entry level soccer tournaments are available here. Remember, you are to contact your local assigning officer and inform him/her of the site(s) of your tournament. Please indicate dates and times. The recommendation of officials for boys' district/regional soccer will be made by the district/region coaches. This information should be communicated to the assigning officer of the local officials associations, along with the tournament schedule as soon as possible. The dates, times, and sites of the district/regional tournaments should be included in this information. Assignments of officials will depend on the number of matches each day, the times scheduled, and the availability of officials who have qualified to work tournament competition. Three man crews are recommended for district play; however, two man crews may be used.

The financial form for the district/regional tournament will be used to report to TSSAA following the district/regional tournament. TSSAA shall receive 18% of the gross gate receipts. If the district/regional tournament is held at several sites, all financial information and money must be given to the tournament director. The tournament director may include one form for each site or one report for all sites. Make the report in duplicate and keep one copy for your records. Please enclose a completed bracket of your district/regional tournaments when you return the financial report to the state office.

All checks for district, regional, and sectional tournaments and playoffs must be distributed within 10 business days of the completion of the tournament or game. Failure to do so will result in a $100.00 late fee to be paid to TSSAA and is to be used in the A.F. Bridges sportsmanship program to go to schools or students receiving awards. Failure to distribute funds within 20 business days will result in an additional $200 late fee (total $300.00). Failure to distribute funds within 40 business days will result in an additional $200.00 late fee (total $500.00). The school may not host any tournament or playoff until the principal or athletic director appears before the Board of Control to explain their reasons for not distributing the checks within the required time frame. The Board would then determine whether the school can host tournaments or playoffs in the future.

In Division I, plaques for the district champion and runner-up have been sent to the District Tournament Director. (NOTE: The Region Champion plaque will be shipped directly to the winning school during the week of Spring Fling.). If there is not a district tournament, then only the region champion plaque has been sent to the Region Tournamnet Director. The Division II region champion and runner-up plaque have been sent to the Region Tournament Director.
