Safety Guidelines: AACCA and UCA/UDA Articles of Understanding
Cost: Entry Fee -- $100.00 per squad (non-refundable); $10.00 spectator fee; $5.00 Parking
Time: 11:00 a.m. Registration; 12:00 p.m. Competition
Competition Divisions:
- Freshman Division
- If a school is 7th-9th grade or 7th-12th grade, then a team in this division may have 7th and 8th graders on the freshman division team; Squads with 16 members and under; 2 minutes and 30 seconds to perform.
- Jr. Varsity Division
- Composed of no one on varsity squad at this event; Squads with 25 members and under; 2 minutes 30 seconds to perform.
- Varsity Routine Division (Non-Tumbling)
- 2 minute 30 second performance (1 minute 30 second maximum music) in which tumbling is prohibited, except for inversions into load in positions, stunts, and pyramids. Tumbling is defined as any skills with feet over head rotation. Squads are limited to 5-30 Varsity members.
- Varsity Routine Division (Non-Building)
- 2 minute 30 second performance (1 minute 30 second maximum music) in which no partner stunts, pyramids, or tosses are allowed.- Varsity Cheer Only Division (Non Building)
- 1 minute 30 second performance of cheers and/or sideline chants with jumps permitted (No squad size limitations). No partner stunts, pyramids or tumbling permitted. There is no music in this division.
- Varsity Cheer Only Division (Building)
- 1 minute 30 second performance of cheer and/or sideline chants with partner stunts, pyramids, jumps and tumbling permitted (No squad size limitations). There is no music allowed in this division.- Small Varsity
- Squads with 12 female members and under; 2 minutes and 30 seconds to perform.
- Medium Varsity
- Squads with 13-16 female members; 2 minutes and 30 seconds to perform.
- Large Varsity
- Squads with 17-20 female members; 2 minutes and 30 seconds to perform.
- Super Varsity
- Squads with 21-30 female members; 2 minutes and 30 seconds to perform.
- Small Coed Varsity
- No more than 20 participants with 4 or fewer males; 2 minutes and 30 seconds to perform.
- Large Coed Varsity
- No more than 20 participants with 5 or more males; 2 minutes and 30 seconds to perform.FOR SPECIFIC RULES AND GUIDELINES SEE ARTICLES OF UNDERSTANDING
Categories: Squads entering the TSSAA State Championships may enter only one of the following categories (Exceptions: (1) A school may enter a squad in either small, medium or large varsity and enter an additional squad in either small coed or large coed. (2) A school may enter a squad in a routine division and enter a separate squad in a cheer only division.) Therefore, there will be no cross competitors allowed.:
- The cheer non-building category consists of cheers and sideline chants (jumps are allowed) and cannot exceed one minute and thirty seconds (no music allowed in this category). Timing will begin with the first movement or voice, whichever comes first. *Non-Building: Squads with absolutely no partner stunts, pyramids, or tumbling in the routine will be considered a "Non-Building" squad (jumps are allowed).
- Varsity Cheer Only (Non-building):
Varsity Cheer Only (Building): - The cheer building category consists of cheers and sideline chants (partner stunts, pyramids, jumps permitted) and cannot exceed one minute and thirty seconds (no music allowed in this category). Timing will begin with the first movement or voice, whichever comes first. *Building: Squads with any partner stunts or pyramids in the routine will be considered a "Building" squad.
Routine: - Each squad will have two minutes and thirty seconds to demonstrate its cheerleading style and expertise. Timing will begin with the first movement, voice, or first note of music, whichever comes first. Each squad's presentation must include at least one cheer or sideline chant. If a squad uses music in its presentation, the musical portion must not exceed one minute and thirty seconds. Band cheers will be considered part of the musical performance.
