LOCAL RULES AND CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION FOR TSSAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Rules of the United States Golf Association govern play. See Notice to Competitors/Players and Entry Application for additional Local Rules and Conditions. Complete text of rules and Appendix I may be found in the current Rules of Golf.

Unless otherwise noted, the penalty for breach of a Local Rule or Condition is:
Match Play - Loss of hole:
Stroke Play - Two Strokes

LOCAL RULES

OUT OF BOUNDS - Defined by inside points, at ground level, of large white stakes and fence posts. Rule 27-1

WATER AND LATERAL WATER HAZARD STAKES AND LINES - Water Hazards are defined by yellow stakes or yellow lines. Rule 26-1. Lateral water hazards are defined by red stakes or red lines. Rule 26-1. When both stakes and lines are use to define water and lateral water hazards, stakes identify hazards and lines define margins. When a lateral water hazard is defined on only one side, it is deemed to extend to infinity. When water hazards and lateral hazards are bounded by out of bounds, the hazard margin extends to and coincides with the out of bounds line.

GROUND UNDER REPAIR - Defined by white lines. Fire ant hills and french drains are deemed to be ground under repair. Rule 25-1 (Note: For a player whose ball is in a water hazard and is affected by a fire ant hill - see Decision 1-4/10).

SOD SEAMS - Except in a hazard, sod seams (not the sod itself) are deemed to be ground under repair, and relief is available under Rule 25-1 if the ball lies in or touches a sod seam or the sod seam interferes with the area of intended swing. All seams within the sodded area are considered the same seam.

WHITE-LINED AREAS TYING INTO ARTIFICIALLY-SURFACED ROADS AND PATHS - have the same status as the roads and paths, that of obstructions.

WOOD CHIPS AND MULCH - are loose impediments, unless otherwise provided for in Notice to Competitors/Players.

EMBEDDED BALL THROUGH THE GREEN - Local rule as prescribed in Appendix I shall be in effect.

INTEGRAL PARTS OF THE COURSE - includes cables, rods, wires or wrappings when closely attached to trees; liners in bunkers and artificial walls and pilings when located in hazards, unless otherwise provided for in Notice to Competitors/Players.

TEMPORARY POWER LINES AND CABLES - Local Rule as prescribed in Appendix I shall be in effect.

TEMPORARY IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS - Local rule as prescribed in Appendix I shall be in effect.

CONDITIONS

LIST OF CONFORMING GOLF BALLS - Note under Rule 5-1 and Optional Condition as prescribed in Appendix I shall be in effect. PENALTY FOR BREACH OF CONDITION: Disqualification.

TIME OF STARTING - Note under Rule 6-3 and Optional Condition as described in Appendix I shall be in effect.

PACE OF PLAY - See separate memorandum to players for pace of play guidelines when applicable.

DISCONTINUANCE OF PLAY - Note under Rule 6-8b and Optional condition as prescribed in Appendix I shall be in effect. All practice areas shall be closed during suspension for a dangerous situation until the Committee has declared them open. A player using such practice areas will be subject to a penalty of disqualification. Note: A suspension for a dangerous situation shall be signalled by one prolonged airhorn note, and all players shall be verbally informed by the Committee. All other types of suspension shall be signalled by three consecutive airhorn notes, repeated. Resumption of play shall be signalled by two short airhorn notes, repeated.

TRANSPORTATION - Players shall walk at all times during a stipulated round. Optional condition as prescribed in Appendix I shall be in effect.

CLOSE OF COMPETITION - The competition shall be deemed to have closed when the trophy has been presented to the winner, or in the absence of a prize ceremony, when all scores have been approved by the Committee.

POINTS OF INTEREST - There a number of places on the golf course to follow the championship if you are not able to follow a group(s) for the entire round. Some good spots are:

  1. The area behind #3 green and #7 green allows you to watch players hit into #2 (par 5), play #3 (par 3), play #7 (par 4), and play #8 (par 3). There are restrooms in this area.

  2. The area by #4 green and #6 green allows you to watch greens on #4 (par 4) and #6 (par 5) and tee shots on #7. There is a concession stand in this area.

  3. The area around #9 green.

  4. The area between #13 and #15 greens allows you to see #13 green (par 4), tee shots on #14 (par 5), #15 green (par 4), #16 tee (par 4) and the 2nd shots on #18. There is a concession stand in this area.

  5. The area at the back of #17 tee allows you to watch #10 green (par 5), #11 (par 4), hole #12 (par 3), #16 green (par 4) and hole #17 (par 3).

  6. The area around #18 green.

  7. The scoreboard area. Scores will be posted every three holes for all players. This allows you to follow the tournament from the scoring area which is under a pavilion and near restrooms and a concession area.

Golf carts will be used for officials and scorers only. Golf carts cannot be used by coaches, parents, or fans. Due to excessive demands, we are unable to provide use of scorers' carts to fans.
