The first round series is a best-of-three series with two games to be played on Friday May, 10, 2013, and the if necessary game to be played on Saturday, May 11, 2013. The state office is responsible for the selection of the umpires for each first round and quarterfinal games. TSSAA has assigned local associations to work all first round and quarterfinal games. In the information included on our website, we have listed the assigning officer of the association that is to work first round and quarterfinal games. The association assigned to work will not necessarily be neutral to all teams. The association is assigned based on geography, strength of the local's training program, and service to member schools.

Please note that TSSAA receives 1/3 of the net of the first round game and 1/3 of the net in the quarterfinal series. All financial reports must be submitted to TSSAA immediately following the completion of the game(s).

The first round game fee is $60 per game, plus 15¢ per mile, per official for a two person crew. The first round game fee is $55 per game, plus 15¢ per mile, per official for a three person crew. The quarterfinal game fee is $60 per game, plus 15¢ per mile, per official for a two person crew. The quarterfinal game fee is $55 per game, plus 15¢ per mile, per official for a three person crew. Mileage is to be paid if an umpire travels outside of the county in which he or she resides. The host school must contact the assigning officer and give the date, site, and time of the first round and quarterfinal games. The umpires should be paid by the game director who is hosting the game(s).

NOTE: When the established starting time of a playoff contest between two schools conflicts with the previously scheduled Commencement Exercises of one of the schools, and that school has Senior roster player(s), then at the request of the affected school, the contest will be rescheduled for a mutually agreed upon time and site that falls within the playoff timeline established by TSSAA. In the event the two schools do not agree on a rescheduled time and site, the TSSAA office will designate a starting game time and site. This applies to regional tournament, first round, and quarterfinal contests only.
