Division II Softball Tournament Information for Division II Class A Region Tournament Directors & Division II Class A Sub-State Series Directors

Regional & Sub-State Softball

The regional softball tournament must be completed by Friday, May 10, 2013. The sub-state is a best-of-three series with two games to be played on Friday, May 17, 2013, and the if necessary game to be played on Saturday, May 18, 2013.

The state office is responsible for the selection of the umpires for each regional tournament and sub-state game. TSSAA has assigned local associations to work all regional games. In the information included on our website, we have listed the assigning officer of the association that is to work regional tournament and sub-state games. The association assigned to work will not necessarily be neutral to all teams. The association is assigned based on geography, strength of the local's training program, and service to member schools.

Please note that TSSAA receives 18% of the gross gate receipts in the region softball tournaments and 1/3 of the net in the sub-state series. All financial reports must be submitted to TSSAA immediately following the completion of the tournament/game.

The regional game fee is $55 per game, plus 15¢ per mile, per official for a two person crew. The regional game fee is $50 per game, plus 15¢ per mile, per official for a three person crew. The sub-state game fee is $60 per game, plus 15¢ per mile, per official for a two person crew. The sub-state game fee is $55 per game, plus 15¢ per mile, per official for a three person crew. Mileage is to be paid if an umpire travels outside of the county in which he or she resides. The host school must contact the assigning officer and give the date, site, and time of the regional and sub-state games. The umpires should be paid by the game director who is hosting the tournament.

NOTE: When the established starting time of a playoff contest between two schools conflicts with the previously scheduled Commencement Exercises of one of the schools, and that school has Senior roster player(s), then at the request of the affected school, the contest will be rescheduled for a mutually agreed upon time and site that falls within the playoff timeline established by TSSAA. In the event the two schools do not agree on a rescheduled time and site, the TSSAA office will designate a starting game time and site. This applies to regional tournament and sub-state contests only.

We are asking the regional tournament director to report the teams that have qualified for the sub-state games following the final and consolation games using one of the following options:
