Instructions and Information for
Teams Entering the TSSAA State Girls' Volleyball Tournament

TOURNAMENT SITE - The TSSAA Division I and Division II State Girls' Volleyball Championships will be held at Middle Tennessee State University, Blackman High School, and Siegel High School in Murfreesboro. Matches will be played at MTSU on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, October 26-28, 2011. Matches will be played at Blackman High School and Siegel High School on Wednesday and Thursday, October 26-27, 2011. The site director for Blackman High School will be Mary Dayton. PARKING - At MTSU, teams and officials will park in Lot A in the Greenland Drive parking lot. At Blackman High School and Siegel High School, teams and officials will park each day in front of the gym. Parking passes for the schools qualifying for the state tournament will be included in the team packets.

PASS GATE - The coach of each participating team must fill out a pass list with 20 names for the tournament. This list should include players, coaches, managers and statisticians only. ANYONE CARRYING A TOURNAMENT PASS (NOT ON PASS LIST) WILL ONLY BE ADMITTED AT THE GENERAL ADMISSION GATE. Cheerleaders in uniform will be admitted to any session and should enter at the player’s pass gate. Each team is limited to 12 cheerleaders.

THE PRESS PASS GATE FOR MTSU WILL BE THE LOADING DOCK RAMP. THE PRESS PASS GATE FOR BLACKMAN HIGH SCHOOL AND SIEGEL HIGH SCHOOL WILL BE LOCATED NEXT TO THE GYMNASIUM.

ONLY PERSONNEL LISTED ON THE PASS LIST, CHEERLEADERS IN UNIFORM, OFFICIALS, WORKERS AND PRESS PASSES WILL BE ADMITTED IN THE PLAYING AREA.


The pass gate for non-participating teams at MTSU will be at Gate N-4. The pass gate for non-participating teams at Blackman High School and Siegel High School will be at the Main Gate. All participants must be listed on the team roster.

GENERAL ADMISSION - General Admission will be located at the main gate of the gymnasium. Admission is $8 per person Wednesday and Thursday and $10 per person on Friday. Only general admission and pass holders (not on pass list) will be admitted at this gate.

COACHES' PACKETS - The coach of participating teams may pick up their team packet at their first session site (MTSU, Blackman High School, or Siegel High School) on Wednesday morning or at the Rutherford Co. Chamber of Commerce (located at 3050 Medical Center Parkway) on Tuesday night from 6 PM - 7 PM CT.

MATCH INFORMATION - A tournament squad shall be limited to 14 girls. A total of 14 chairs will be allowed and a team is limited to 14 people on its bench. A team may not have additional players dressed in uniforms and have them wear T-shirts or warm-ups over the uniform. A total of 20 people are allowed which includes six players on the court and 14 people (coaches, managers, remaining players) in chairs. For the purpose of coin toss and scoreboard designation, the top team or first team listed in each bracket will be the home team. There shall be no practice at the state tournament site for teams entering the state tournament.

DIVISION I TOURNAMENT FOMRAT - In Division I, there are three classifications: Class A, Class AA, and Class AAA. In all three classifications, there will be a double elimination tournament with no "if" matches.

DIVISION II TOURNAMENT FORMAT - In Division II, there are two classifications: Class A and Class AA. There will be a four team double elimination tournament with no "if" matches as follows:

TRAINER - Baptist Sports Medicine Clinic of Baptist Hospital of Nashville will provide athletic trainers for this event.

CONCESSION - A concession stand will be open and will provide hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, candy and sodas. Coolers will not be allowed inside MTSU, Blackman High School, or Siegel High School.

HOSPITALITY ROOM - A hospitality room sponsored by Molten will be available for coaches only at MTSU, Blackman High School, and Siegel High School.

PRESS - There will be an area set up at MTSU, Blackman High School, and Siegel High School for statisticians and press. For credentials, please e-mail your request to Matthew Gillespie.

PROGRAM INFORMATION - Please fill out the information form so that we may include it in the Championship Program. Once again, we would like to include a photo of your team. Please submit, along with your other forms, a black and white photo (front row, back row) of your team following your district tournament.

VIDEO CAMERAS - Video taping or filming is permitted as long as the taping or filming is for private use or use by the two schools involved and not for public or commercial use. Video taping or filming must be done from the individual's seat. Individuals will not be allowed to use tripods. A school taping or filming its own game may use a tripod. A school will not be allowed to tape or film a game unless its team is involved in the game. All taping or filming by a school may be approved by the local Game Director, and the Game Director shall assign space, when available, from which to tape or film.
