Instructions for Head Coach of State Tournament Qualifier

Congratulations on your accomplishment in making it to the final eight in your classification. We will have a meeting on Sunday, March 4, at 2:00 p.m. at the Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro for all 24 teams participating in the Girls' State Tournament. The meeting for all boys' teams advancing to the State Tournament in Murfreesboro is Saturday, March 10, at 10:00 a.m. at the Embassy Suites.

This is a mandatory meeting for all head coaches. We would also like an administrator from the school to be present.

At this meeting we will set the bracket in each classification with a blind draw. Teams from the same region will be in opposite brackets. We will also have media in attendance at the meeting so that they can meet with all 24 coaches.

In addition, all tournament passes, parking passes will be given to each school.

There will be a new procedure used this year for assigning hotels for both the girls' and boys' teams in the state championships. We will no longer have the Sunday call-in for the girls or the Tuesday call-in for the boys. This year, the teams will draw for their hotel assignments immediately following the draw for the tournament brackets at the team meetings, which will be held as follows:

Girls' Team Meeting: Sunday, March 4, 2012 at 2:30 p.m.

Boys' Team Meeting: Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 10:00 a.m.
Representatives from each hotel property will attend the meetings to assist teams with lodging arrangements. Teams will be asked for pertinent information such as credit card number, guest names, phone numbers, arrival time, etc.

All reservations must be made through the Chamber of Commerce. Please do not attempt to make reservations for your teams directly through the hotels. Doing so could jeopardize your room assignments. If the parents/cheerleaders, spectators traveling with your team have difficulty finding rooms, please have them contact Barbara Wolke at (615) 278-2327 or bwolke@rutherfordchamber.org.

The meeting prior to the tournament is similar to the one that we used to have. The major purpose will be the draw and creating a press conference like atmosphere for the tournament. Hence, it is required for all head coaches to be present. It is our hope that this will provide an important piece to the beginning of our tournaments.
